Chocolate Hot Tea Toddy Recipe: The Chai Mudslide

Making Grown Up Hot Chocolate at Home

INGREDIENTS (Serves 2)

  • 2 Heaped teaspoons of masala chai (or 2 tea bags)

  • 2 Cups of milk (regular or non dairy)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Dutch cocoa powder

  • 1/4 Cup (4 tablespoons) of dark chocolate - chopped or chips

  • 2 Scoops of ice cream (chocolate or vanilla works well for this recipe)

  • 2 Shots (100ml) of Baileys Irish Cream/Baileys Almande

  • 2 Tablespoons of honey/maple syrup/agave - to taste

  • Whipped cream and grated chocolate to serve- optional

METHOD

  • Pour the milk into a saucepan bring to a gentle simmer, add the cocoa, chocolate chips and optional honey and keep stirring until the chocolate has completely melted, and all of the ingredients are combined.

  • Remove from the heat and add the masala chai. Let steep for 5 minutes before straining out the leaves.

  • Next, mix in the the Baileys Irish cream and pour into 2 cups or 2 heat proof glasses.

  • Add a scoop of ice cream and top with whipped cream and grated chocolate.

  • Enjoy with a spoon, straw or simply sip away :)
