Homemade Simple Syrup with Honey

This is a really easy simple syrup recipe using honey rather than sugar. This simple syrup can be used in lots of tea recipes, ice teas, tipsy teas and other cold drinks. It blends into cold drinks much easier than the solid forms of sugar.

The great thing about this, is that different flavours can be infused into the syrup. Try refreshing mint leaves or warming cinnamon, or perhaps your favourite loose leaf tea.

Making simple syrup with honey is so easy to do. It is just a case of mixing 1 part honey and 1 part water. Heat the liquids together and combine and that’s it. You can also combine the ingredients together in the microwave for speed!

1 Part Water


  1. Combine the honey and water into a saucepan

  2. Bring to a simmer, stirring continuously

  3. After about 5-10 minutes, the simple syrup will be combined and ready

  4. Enjoy in your teas, coffees, cocktails or in cooking and baking

Keep in the fridge and use within 2 weeks
